Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Tate B — 10 Dec 2012
After delivering this heavily involved crime-drama, Gone Baby Gone, many look forward to Ben Affleck's new era in film as director. The movie's sombre tone never seems to lack authenticity due to the way Affleck captures the Boston community apart from the counterfeit realm of cliched normalities.
At times the film loses sight of its central plot, not to irrelevant distractions however, but to a heightening sense of deception which builds to the film's grand scheme of mystery and corruption.
A multilayered plot with sudden twists are expected in a genre that thrives off of crime, but the film offers a prudent glimpse of reality that weighs consequence against morality. Gone Baby Gone proposes a tale that triumphs in its humility and core values, rather than the glamour and conventionality of Hollywood.
