Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Kit K — 23 Nov 2011
This film is adapted from the same author that wrote Mystic River, which is a great movie. Gone Baby Gone takes on the same feel as Mystic River for most of the movie. This also has the opportunity to be a great movie except for two things, two flaws in structure.
One flaw comes from the director, the former actor Ben Affleck, who at the midpoint in the movie makes the audience feel like that is where the story ends. Halfway through it cuts to black before coming back on.
The other flaw is by the author, but the flaw is not his fault rather the fault of my skewed belief system. There are two main actions that take place at the middle and at the end. And if you agreed with one then you should not agree with the other.
I on the other hand disagreed with both. Other than that a fine directorial debut from Affleck.
