Review of Gone (2012) by Louis M — 31 May 2012
The film was okay and good acting by Amanda Seyfried who can pass off as a teen or a 20 something year old woman as you will see in the movie. Jill Parrish (Seyfried) was traumatized by her own kidnapping one year ago.
A serial killer kidnapped her and placed her in a well. Fortunately she escaped, surviving the frightening ordeal. Her sister Molly (Emily Wickersham) moves in with her to ease her fears. So far so good but you see Jill still fears that the killer will return to get her.
Is her paranoia justified? Also starring Shane from the L Word Katherine Moennig as Detective Erica Lonsdale and Daniel Sunjata as Detective Powers- the detectives from whom Jill seeks help with. I like how Jill is portrayed as a self-assured, brave woman who trained in self-defense after her ordeal.
She comes up with clever stories trying to uncover information regarding the serial killer. On the negative side, it's a bit depressing and dark but nothing too violent as the film is rated PG-13, just made me remember my hikes in the nature trails and how careful people, especially women need to be when venturing into the woods.
It is an okay film but not at the caliber of other movies.
