Review of Gone (2012) by Mloy X — 01 Aug 2012
Jill (Seyfried): Are you going to say hi?
Molly (Wickersham): Maybe tomorrow after my final. Right now I've got to become an expert on marginal productivity theory.
Jill (Seyfried): I'd ask you what that is, but then I'm afraid you'd tell me.
I actually liked this movie. It was pretty entertaining and pretty unsual take on the conspiracy/kidnapping genre. I especially liked the conclusion. I mean yes, one has to suspend disbelief and assuming that the entire police department is incompetent and uncarring bastard (which most real-life victims sometimes feel they are) and given some questionable holes in the plot: i.e. if the stalker guy was watching her every move, so much so that he is able to find out where she works, where she lives, who she lives with, their schedule and other habits; then, how come he didn't realize she was taking self-defense classes? Why didn't he find out she owns a gun? Little things like that....... but if you're not too finicky with the details, this movie can be thoroughly enjoyable.... and enjoyed it I did.
