Review of Gomorrah (2008) by Mohamed Y — 04 Aug 2009
This film is basically a few parallel stories of different people involved in organised crime and the characters don't cross paths. One or two of the characters didn't seem to have a conclusion in the end of the film, which I didn't really like. It has a documentary feel, but considering it's all based on real events, seems to fit it just well.
The film plays out like a day in the life of Italian crime, so the whole time it kind of feels pointless and you may get a feeling like, 'where the hell is this going!?' I found it interesting yet somewhat boring.
If you're interested in seeing a very realistic mafia movie with emphasis on real and no Hollywood, definitely check it out. If not, you might find it very boring.
I didn't really care for this movie but since it seems it's motive is just insight in the mafia life anyway, and with the acting excellent, I kept it out of the rotten zone.
