Review of Gomorrah (2008) by Jeff S — 04 Oct 2009
This film starts off rather confusingly, bouncing all over the place through the lives of different characters. But as the film comes together, each story starts to come to life. Unfortunately, I was hoping that by the end of the film all of the mini-biographies would converge together into one, but that didn't happen.
What you end end up with are glimpses of a few pieces of what is a much larger puzzle, that puzzle being the world of Italian organized crime, a world away from us Canadians. Still, as good of a film as this was, I still couldn't bring myself to enjoy the European directional style; guess I've been Hollywoodinized.
