Review of Gomorrah (2008) by David S — 22 Aug 2009
A documentary style drama about the intertweening lives of the inhabitants of a Naples slum. It's the story of organised crime that leaves behind the glamour of usual 'mafia' style films. This is the real deal, the gangster life is short, brutal and messy, ridden with drugs and leaves innocent lives in peril. The realistic style adds to the harshness of this and sometimes I was left thinking I was watching the discovery channel. The best part for me was when the tailor sees his creation worn by Scarlett Johansen after selling it for 30 Euros.
Pretty good if you never want to visit Naples.
