Review of Gomorrah (2008) by Isobel S — 03 Dec 2009
Gritty crime drama set in Italy which ties in multiple stories. It has a bit of a City of God feel with less resolution, and is one of those films that would benefit from multiple viewings to nail down the characters and plotlines.
Unlike the "traditional" Italian mafia films this film feels more like a gangland film. There doesn't seem to be much honor or respect among these criminals. The setting is so bleak and dreary that it does weigh on you.
Some of the stories are tied in better than other stories, and some stories feel more resolved in the end than others.
