I don't really see why this was so critically acclaimed. It doesnt seem to offer anything particularly new or provide more of an insight into organised crime than many of the similar-themed works of fiction.
The characters generally lacked definition and the story didnt seem to have any real heart or depth to it. In the end it's hard to really care what happens to anyone and it's all a bit inevitable when something does.
