Review of Goldfinger (1964) by Jeff L — 15 Nov 2010
This Bond movie, which is reputed to be the best in the series, seems lame and outdated when viewed 46 years later. However, one must consider how audiences in the 1960s would have reacted to this flick.
They would have enjoyed the debonair, incorrigble and quick-thinking spy going up against villains and going down on a stream of pretty blondes. I thought the Korean baddie and Chinese mercenary troops were in bad taste, but one can argue that negative portrayals of Asians are the norm now, especially in American movies.
