Review of Goldfinger (1964) by Bob V — 25 Mar 2011
The third instalment in the James Bond series is the first to incorporate all the elements that became typical of the â~classicâ(TM) Bond movies, from the tongue-in-cheek banter, to the gadgets, from blatantly sexist (yet hilarious) names to a truly evil super villain.
In establishing this identity, this film also becomes arguably the greatest of the Bond series, and not just for its place in cinema history, but also because it still holds up, incorporating all the aforementioned elements, but not relying on them in an almost gimmicky manner, as some might say later chapters in the series do.
