Review of Goldfinger (1964) by Nathan E — 25 May 2014
I enjoyed this movie. It's everything we've come to expect from a Bond film: beautiful women, exotic locales, gadgets, swagger, and innocent double entendres.
I can tell that it was here that the series started to ease into its most well-known components. Both Dr. No and From Russia with Love were more low-key, which made them painfully boring in some places.
Goldfinger amps up the action and tension considerably. It almost gets to the point of goofy camp. Almost. Connery's confidence and swagger adds credibility. Guy Hamilton is a very capable director, staging very complex stunts, which for its day, were very cool.
