Review of Goldfinger (1964) by Jordan S — 01 Dec 2012
I am a huge Bond fan, and I truly love each movie for what each one is. That said when I rate Bond movies, I rate them against themselves and not the entire Hollywood movie population.
Goldfinger is the best Sean Connery Bond film. Guy Hamilton does a great job directing the flick and all of Connery's supporting cast give great performances. Goldfinger had the first true mainstream success that made both Bond and Connery into big stars. This film would also become the "template" for most future Bond movies. It was the first time we get an inside look at Q branch and Bond's gadgets, catchphrases, and tounge in cheek dialogue are all in place. I found the story very capturing and would have to not only rate it as Connery's best Bond film but one of the top Bond films made period.
