Review of GoldenEye (1995) by Johnny B — 27 Aug 2012
While not a perfect movie, Goldeneye proves to be a perfect Bond movie. The villain 006 is played by LOTR'S Sean Bean, proved to be a worthy opponent, and the (bad) bond girl is played by Famke Janssen.
The storyline is coherent enough and the action set pieces are unbelievable but of fun to watch. Theme song is memorable. Hell even the N64 game that came with it was memorable, if not better than the film.
... I think what's most enjoyable about goldeneye is that it was made in a pre 9/11 world when the Bond franchise didn't take itself so seriously. The Daniel Craig films are great, but not the same genre.
Craig's films are more Action-Suspenseful Thriller- Drama. While Goldeneye is more under the heading of Adventure, similar to an Indiana Jones movie. Also its current enough so that you're not entirely distracted by the outdated technology, much as when watch a bond film with connery or moore.
