Review of GoldenEye (1995) by Kevin G — 13 May 2013
I will say this right off the bat, Alec Trevalyan has always been my favourite bond villain. The opening bungee jump ranks just below the ski jump from Spy as my favourite Bond stunt. Brosnan is the only Bond to have the role down to a science right off the bat (usually takes three movies as I explained in Quantum).
He seems so comfortable and at home that he easily carries this movie on his back. Sean Bean is fantastic as the man who knows every move Bond is going to make. Being an ex-00, Trevalyan is the first main villain who could kill Bond with his bare hands.
Onatopp is the sexiest Bond Girl ever, while being the most dangerous. Alan Cumming provides great comic relief as Boris "I'm Invincible!" Grishenko. And possibly the best thing about Goldeneye, the introduction of Dame Judi Dench as "M", who has my vote over Bernard Lee, and I love Bernard Lee as "M".
