Review of GoldenEye (1995) by Nick Z — 25 May 2013
In Bond 17, the story is about Agent 006 played by Sean Bean who is trapped by the Russian troops in the Soviet Union while Agent 007 now played by Pierce Brosnan escapes. Several years later, the Cold War is a thing in the past but but Bond is still at work ferreting out evildoers everywhere until she meets Xenia played by Famke Janssen, a vicious Russian Mafia spearheads the theft of the controls to GoldenEye, a high-tech satellite weapons system, and with her gunmen, she kills most of the soldiers and guards at a top-secret military facility in the process.
Bond joins forces with Natalya played by Izabella Scorupco to help track down Xenia's minions and the controls to GoldenEye, which can destroy all electronic circuits in a matter of seconds however, Bond discovers the true identity of who is behind this-Agent 006.
While the franchise with it's reboot once again takes a fresh new take, there are a lot of similarities to the future James Bond movies bu it still doesn't raise the bar nor match the popularity of the original classic 007 movies.
GoldenEye gets a weak 8/10.
