The real life pursuit of happiness by means of the precious metal is the crux of this insipid and lack-lustre get-rich-quick drama. There's is a committed and sometimes effective lead performance by McConaughey, but this is not enough, as the misdirection and uncinematic edge leaves you forgetting what you saw in swift fashion, let alone caring for any of the people involved.
