Review of Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film (2006) by Michael F — 07 Dec 2007
If you've already read the book of the same name by Adam Rockoff, you're not going to find a heck of a lot of information in this short documentary that you didn't already know. However, there are some great interviews with some of horror's most notable directors.
The documentary also warrants praise for not distilling the subject matter to the most popular, recognizable slashers, even though it was broadcast over mainstream television (Starz, I think). Sure, Friday the 13th receives extensive coverage, but so do The Prowler, Slumber Party Massacre, Happy Birthday to Me, and Italian giallo films.
