Review of Going My Way (1944) by Joe L — 19 Apr 2009
Heartfelt and schmaltzy, but not without it's charms. it's a musical in the same way that 'meet me in st. louis' used song organically within the story s part of the plot itself - see also, 'once.
' won the best picture oscar, and like so many of those winners, was probably the most emotionally manipulative, least artistic film of the year. bing crosby's easygoing performance was a surprise, and the musical interludes are entertaining.
