Review of Going My Way (1944) by Kathleen D — 07 Mar 2008
The Oscars must have been generous that year to give this Best Picture over Double Indemnity. Sure, it's a heartwarming, uplifting movie, but too sweet and perfect that I lost my appetite. There wasn't any major conflict happening in this movie.
The story was pretty much static; I didn't feel the ups and downs of this film...just bland in general (although it started out well). One good thing about this is Bing Crosby. His acting was subtle, but he punches you in the heart like a Jimmy Stewart.
