Review of Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (2015) by Luis P — 29 Aug 2015
Over the years, as its celebrity tooters have preached and the church in general has reached mainstream conciousness thanks to the myriad scandals it has embroiled itself in, Scientology has morphed from a kooky cult on the fringes to mystical source of truth.
This perfectly sequenced documentary goes in-depth with the people who saw it all, disenfranchised ex-members who know firsthand what it was to live amongst the brainwashed, and who can also attest to the strange allure that this so-called religion had over them.
It sounds like yawn-inducing stuff, but believe me, it is not. Through a mix of archival footage interspersed with various interviews, this 2 hour film kept me glued to my seat. You see this, and I promise you will not see Scientology in the same way again.
