Gibney employs classic, if somewhat old fashioned techniques to explore the sinister and murky world of Scientology. What makes this documentary fascinating is the access Gibney has got, deeply emotional and affecting interviews from former members of the institution included noted Hollywood figures such as Paul Haggis steep the film in genuine emotion and show the true human cost of indoctrination.
This remarkable and well researched documentary is a fascinating and engrossing watch.
