Review of Goin' South (1978) by Brett W — 02 Sep 2007
I wish Jack had directed more movies. I think he might have if expectations hadn't weighed so heavily on him and resulted in the tepid response that his work received.
This movie has a special place in my heart. It's not brilliant but it's cute and charming and really funny in parts. It's got a great cast of Jack regulars and Mary is adorable. It should carry some cache just for being the movie that introduced her to the world.
I first saw it at the movies and I've lost count now. I still enjoy it. It was made during the period when Jack began to be accused of overacting. My God!!! Well...maybe he is, but he's funny and he sure aint taking himself too seriously.
Real good fun.
