Review of Goemon (2009) by Clifford D — 15 May 2010
Even though I do appreciate the style in Casshern, the over the top CGI action sequences with over-saturated style in everything just distracts from anything that could be good about Goemon as an epic samurai-like robin hood type of hero.
I mean, really, Goemon literally flies. And I have no problem with flying characters in Casshern because, well... they're not entirely human... unlike this film. But then they decide to not let him fly to save his friend in order to get a dramatic moment, that in the end doesn't achieve the desired effect because you were thinking "why doesn't he jump and save him?".
I think the film could have done much better by following a more straight-forward epic war movie.
