Review of Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) by Jeff H — 10 Sep 2010
The 13th Godzilla movie and it's another bad one.
People from a civilization underground are tired of the upper world testing nuclear bombs. So they send their monster Megalon, a giant beetle with drills for hands. To stop Megalon, an inventor sends his robot called Jet Jaguar, an Ultra-Man rip-off, to stop him. Unfortunately, Gigan joins in the fight to help Megalon against Jet Jaguar. Seeing that two monsters are too much to handle, Jet Jaguar seeks the help of Godzilla.
This movie was written by a kinder-garner(No Joke) through a contest made by Toho to produce a new monster. Unfortunately, an Ultraman rip-off wasn't going to sell the movie so Godzilla and Gigan were added to guaranteed a quick buck. The fight is very cheesy, it feels like something out of Power Rangers. The only thing worth watching is Godzilla doing a flying kick on Megalon, it's so funny that it's done twice.
Apart from the Godzilla flying kick, skip it.
