Review of Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971) by Markus K — 11 May 2009

My favorite of the Godzilla (Gojira) films. Why?. It's an unusually dark entry in the franchise. It's perhaps the most disturbing G rated film I've seen. As a kid it caused many sleeplss nights. The imagery in this movie gave me some really bad nightmares. Sure the effects are cheesy, but this is a godzilla (Gojira) movie after all. But for a Godzilla film it's pretty freaky (especially when you consider these were made as "family films.") How many G rated films do you see thousands of people dropping dead and decomposing in the streets?

P.S. Stay away from the version entitled "Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster". It's terribly translated and butchered.
