Review of Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971) by Robert G — 29 Jul 2012
Godzilla vs. Hedorah is possibly the weirdest godzilla film in the franchise. To a certain extent, this helps it in making it stand out amongst the other Godzilla films but it's conflicting nature on trying to be dark and serious but still children friendly hurts it.
Nonetheless, there are still many great and weird things about this movie. The monsters fight throughout the entire movie which is a plus. The soundtrack is pretty good...in a Japanese 70s kind of way....Hedorah is threatening and actually puts up a good fight against Godzilla. Also, the fanfare that introduces Godzilla when he first appears is incredibly ridiculous.
Its crazy, conflicted, awesome and just plain weird.
