Review of Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971) by Thomas W — 09 Jul 2013
This is one of those films that are so bad that it is interesting or entertaining in just how much bullcrap that will unexpectedly appear next. Hedorah is threatening, but there are almost no other positives in this film. This film is watchable because it is a double negative.
This film is MORBID and horrific despite aiming for a children audience, the symbolism is slammed in your face with little explanation or subtly and Hedorah himself- a giant crap monster from outterspace with shape-shifting powers, is the most logical thing here. Godzilla has very little purpose in the film other to slow down Hedorah, otherwise he has no real backstory but does have his moments.
This is a "one of a kind" film for sure, just prepare to dig yourself out of the pile of rotting shit that this film is (<- see what I did there?).
