Review of Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) by Skd — 01 Jun 2019
They should have just done 2 hours of monster fighting and left the humans cast out of it.
Asking Hollywood to craft a complex and thought-provoking human narrative is just asking too much of it in this day and age. They might as well be waiving a white flag of surrender and begging us to grade them on special effects alone. Tywin Lannister is the only one who delivers here.
If you're looking for a lazy summer film to get you into the comforting shade of the theater, this will do the job, provided you turn your brain 'off' before you enter. If you are looking for something intelligent weaved in-between the monster fighting, this ain't it.
