Review of Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) by Rdaddy497 — 30 May 2019
If you see the critic reviews, they are right about all the flaws in the movie. However, they use the flaws of this movie to put it way down. Expect the flaws, but the movie has incredibly redeemable qualities. The titan fights and all scenes that has anything to do with Titans are incredibly entertaining. The actors were considered the biggest flop in this movie (rightfully so), but a lot of other lead actors redeemed some of that. The film has great pacing to be entertaining without exhausting the viewer, which is perfect for a summer blockbuster.
Anyway, to cut to the chase, is the movie better than the 2014 reboot? No. Is it a lot more entertaining? In a lot of ways yes. The movie was cliche, some bad acting, and felt a little too simple at times. But has all the qualities to be a fun summer blockbuster, this movie is obviously not seeking to be one of the best Godzilla movies ever. It’s just supposed to be a bunch of fun and if you’re a classic Godzilla fan, you’d understand that a lot of Godzilla (not all) movies do just that. They just have a bunch of fun. Unlike the 2014 reboot where it was fun and cool yet also very serious and had more realistic plot layout. That film was a better quality movie. But I’ve never seen a movie rated so low for the cons while not praising the pros nearly at all.
Go watch this movie and watch it for what it is. It’s a classic fun-to-watch Godzilla kaiju battling movie that shouldn’t be taken so seriously.
