Review of Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956) by Gabriel C — 12 Feb 2008
This is the recut American version starring Raymond Burr. It's enjoyable on a cheesy B-movie level, but it lacks the depth and anti-war theme of the Japanese original. The scenes with Burr are hilarious in just how tacked on they feel.
Essentially, it's Burr and his Japanese sidekick standing the whole time and watching the movie with us, looking a little to screen-left, with somber or more likely disinterested expressions on their faces.
