Godzilla is the perfect illustration of figuratively using a monster as a metaphor for the horror and destruction that mankind (atomic bomb, etc.) or nature (tsunami, etc.) is capable of unleashing. Anyone who thinks the original Godzilla was a corny "monster" movie should shove a live hand grenade up their pooper!
