Hasn't aged very well, but you can see why it was such a hit. Why they felt the need to add American characters in as bookends is beyond me. Did they think western audiences wouldn't care about them if it was only a bunch of Japanese guys? The fact that they were probably right in 1954 doesn't make it any better.
