Review of Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla (2002) by Brett C — 17 Oct 2008

Better than I remember it being, honestly, but still pretty flawed. The serious, dark tone they set up at the very beginning of the film gets thrown out the window not long after, and they could've done more with Kiryu going berserk, and Godzilla himself? Sluggish, expressionless, just a dumb beast with no real personality.

All the human drama feels forced, but given that this is a Godzilla movie, it's really the combat that matters, and the last 20 minutes are positively glorious. It's definitely worth a watch for giant monster fans.
