Review of Godzilla (2014) by Flytorainbowray — 18 May 2014
I just didn't care at all by the end. The first half or so was pretty good but It wasn't great. The plot started out somewhat interesting, but then it lost everything it had going for it. The characters were mostly boring and one dimensional and I had no emotional attachment to them at all.
I appreciated the fact that Godzilla wasn't shown for quite awhile into the movie and that the movie did have a bit of a slower pace compared to most blockbusters. But whenever they had Godzilla on screen, the movie felt so silly and absurd and not in a good way. This is Godzilla! He's suppose to be epic and cool. And when he bashing the other monsters I should be cheering him on in awe. But instead I get some very hokey moments between the monsters. The whole battle at the end had no weight to it and bored the hell out of me.
What this movie needed were some more human elements, more story, and maybe not to take itself quite so serious because doing so made certain parts just silly instead of fun.
