Review of Godzilla (2014) by Youmustdienow — 15 May 2014
+++For the most part it was pure entertainment. Plot carried the film along smoothly, action was placed in necessary areas.
-----Points off for the lack of originality. It was predictable as all hell. Also, this film was hyped to be realistic and emotional. There were minor instances were you might cry or believe this was outside the realm of Sci-fi. I watched the featurette and the producer said" people will act scared and act realistically to situations as if it was being broadcast on CNN.
Ok so that was a complete lie. People acted desensitized to monsters crushing buildings and near death situations. When the main character first saw a monster, he looked at it and thought about nachos and masterbating. In reality his jaw would have dropped. He would be in absolute disbelief and would be scared. The guy in the featurette also said" No one is going to be like' Oh cool a monster" I can't believe he said that because 4 times this happened. Twice with the little kids. Once by a soldier who nearly got killed. And lastly by the citizens after Godzilla appeared to be a big friendly Barney.
