I'm a massive Godzilla fan, and at first I was afraid this would be another "fan-let-down" movie like 'Max Payne' or 'The Last Airbender'. Boy was I wrong!

The director managed to make this film closer to the original Japanese Godzilla movies, for example; the 1998 design looked pretty dreadful, like a velociraptor dressed up in a Godzilla costume. It was rubbish, and it had a face you wanted to punch. New Godzilla, on the other hand, just looks more like the REAL Godzilla. Some seriously good creature design has gone into this bad boy. Love his mountain range of spikes on his back and his relatively tiny mouth. It just looks real. Also this Godzilla can handle canons and missiles from the navy, whereas the one from 1998 was easily killed by missiles from a couple of planes! Another thing was that the 1998 version doesn't have Godzilla's iconic weapon, the 'Atomic Breath'. BUT THE 2014 VERSION DOES!!! Last but not least, the behaviour of the 1998 was too much like a dumb animal, looking for a place to lay eggs and running away from danger. That's not the Godzilla I know! In this film Godzilla is an intelligent, prehistoric amphibious monster who feeds off Earth's natural radiation. Now that's better.

The dialog and acting may be a bit dull, but everything else is just what I hoped it would be. Especially the King of the Monsters himself. Please ignore any negative review.
