Is this a hard-hitting drama, using monsters as metaphors for the dark matters facing society today? Are there deep, complex characters who ponder these dark matters? No, thank God!!
This is a fun, entertaining movie made purely for excitement and escapism (something most popular movies are lacking today,,,,new Fantastic Four, I'm looking at you). I grew up watching the classic Mothra and Godzilla movies when I was little and I was happy to see that this Godzilla was pretty close to the awesomeness of the old -school Godzilla, battle cry and all. Every time I watch it, I feel like I am a 10-year old kid again and to me, that is what watching a fun monster movie is all about.
