Review of Godzilla (2014) by Robby H — 20 Nov 2015
Godzilla has been my favorite franchise for as long as I can remember. Giant monsters decimating cities in order to create a dominating presence as the true "King." However, most Godzilla films (at least in the beginning of each era) have a political or societal message to them.
Most films have focused on the issue facing nuclear power, and this film was no different. On top of a visual masterpiece, auditory brilliance, and an plot that created the reality of the situation unlike the franchise has since the 1954 original, the film sent out a message that our dependence on nuclear energy is going to cost us.
Even more, it gave a very clear warning: if we do not learn to take care of our planet, nature will find a way to do it instead.
