It's after the third, off-screen monster fight 'tease' that I feel it. We cut back to Taylor-Johnson for another twenty minutes of Goodguy McMilitary lowering his gun to gawp at setpieces, and there's a lurching feeling in my chest.
It's not excitement - it's faith-consuming, soul-crushing disappointment.
