Review of Godzilla (2014) by Ryan H — 27 Jul 2017

There's not much character development, and Bryan Cranston's character gets killed off waaaaaay to soon, but otherwise Godzilla is a fantastic monster movie. The CGI, suspense, sound design, and action are all phenomenal.

There's a lot more beauty than you normally see in monster movies, especially in the HALO drop skydiving scene. Some people complain that most of the action takes place just off-screen or on a TV, but I give the movie props for restraint.

If they had shown us all the action front and center we would have monster fatigue by the end of the movie, and the movie recognized that and made a smart decision.
