Review of Godzilla (2014) by Henry E — 27 Dec 2014
One thing you can say about his film is that delivers what it promises: giant beasts crashing into buildings and screeching. The quantity of human emotion present potentially surpasses expectations, largely due to the fact that there actually is some.
It's not all that long, but descends into a state of tedium; after all, there is only so many shots of rubble and sweeping scenes of scaled unintelligent monsters one can take. The film is essentially people looking wide-eyed out of shot with incredulous eyes before the camera switches to a stomping, yelling, angry looking, demolishing creature crashing through place A and place B.
It gives what is expected, but makes no attempt to stamp its authority upon one's memory with anything particularly special.
