Review of Godzilla (2014) by Dj A — 11 Apr 2015
Here's my take on GODZILLA (2014).
I actually enjoyed and liked it- After all, it's a monster movie. I like the build-up of the story and the slow revelation of the monstrous creature- maneuvered by the finer hands of Gareth Edwards (the director of the under-appreciated film "Monsters").
I like the choice of actors- very unconventional. Who would've thought that Breaking Bad's Meth Master Bryan Cranston (he could have stolen the entire show from Johnson!), Oscar winner Juliette Binoche and Oscar nominees Ken Watanabe/ Sally Hawkins/ and David Strathairn could join forces in this kind of film? Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen are fine though I'll keep an eye on their next collaboration as "The Twins" smile emoticon.
Stunning visual effects! Not good in IMAX 3D though, I wish Philippine IMAX theaters could have just chosen the 2D format instead (well, the 3D fad's here to stay).
This time, Godzilla took on an anti-hero role, and it worked. Here's to your gigantic 60th year in the biz! smile emoticon.
4/5 folks!
