Review of Godzilla (2014) by John Y — 27 Apr 2015
"SPOILERS" This movie was a huge disappointment! For starters you would think a movie named "Godzilla" would have the monster Godzilla in it for more then 10-15 minutes out of a 2 hour movie and 85% of that he is underwater and all you see is the spikes on his back.
Other problems are that the story jumps around so much it's hard to fallow, in fact there barely is a story at all. In fact nothing affects the story at all, there is no repercussions for screwing up or failing.
"SPOILER ALERT" for example when the train with the nuke is attacked and the mission is failed they send a helicopter and resume like nothing happened, when they could have just flown it to the destination in the first place.
And when the train was attacked the monster that did it left the nuke that it was there for just so it could attack and steal it for a second time 10 minutes later. There are so many holes in the story it's ridiculous.
I had very high hopes for this movie and was left highly disappointed. The only good thing about this movie was the cgi of Godzilla and the other monsters and that's it. And don't get me started on the characters, the only entertaining character dies 30 minutes into the movie and the main character is a big military guy with the voice of a 15 year old nerd going through puberty and all characters are under developed and forgettable.
So to sum it up this movie was the worst attempt at a movie reboot I have ever seen in my life. It had a lot of possibility but failed at every single one of them.
