Review of Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999) by Josh H — 10 Mar 2009
Ok, so I used to love Godzilla when I was a kid (corny-ness be damned), but all the sequels that followed kinda bored me. So when I heard they were doing a "modern" one that kind of picks up after the original one left off, with (they said) "improved special effects" -- I thought "hey, that's worth checking out" -- well, I was wrong.
Does it look better than the original movies? Sure. But it doesn't hold up to any modern standard (granted, it was 1999), and it still looks like a dude in a costume running around knocking over a model of Tokyo.
So, if the special effects are lame ... and the rest of the movie is pretty corny (still), and the other "thing" that he ends up fighting is pretty stupid ... then I really can't come up with a reason for anyone to watch this.
Unless you're a die-hard Godzilla fan ... in which case, you probably have your own issues to work out :).
