Review of Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999) by Annalise J — 14 Nov 2010
The biggest showdown in Godzilla history arrived in American theaters August 18, 2000, unlike in 1999 in Japan. This is what the Roland Emmerich Godzilla should have been. The movie starts out fresh and keeps it pace of keeping little of Godzilla in the movie until the very end, focusing on the humans rather than the monsters.
Monsters, as in there's more than one of course. Anyway, this is the long awaited return to the American big screen since 1985 with GODZILLA 1985: THE LEGEND IS REBORN. So you got a bad @$$ looking Godzilla pitted against a UFO with an alien monster contained inside.
Bottom line: Leonard Maltin gave this 3 stars, and he despises Godzilla, so I guess it's worth seeing. Am I right?
