Review of Godsend (2014) by John C — 07 Sep 2004
What is Robert DiNero doing in this movie? Have scripts dried up for this Hollywood legend? I hope not because he is one of my very favorite actors but if anyone intends to watch this movie for DiNero you can forget it.
He generally mails-in his performance. And who could blame him? The plot is horrible! Godsend is a film about a young couple who lose their 8-year-old in a tragic accident (I feel compelled to say the child actor here need not worry about growing up famous as he was avereage at best) and in their hour of grief they are approached by a doctor that sells them on the idea of cloning.
Everything is fine until the boy reaches the age in which the orginal boy dies and then the boy is tormented by disturbing dreams. The plot, as much as it is, goes on from there. The "scary" scenes aren't really scary and the plot twist at the end you can see coming from a mile away.
The DVD contains multiple different endings which kind of tells you how much in a state of flux the film was in during filming.
