Intense, beautiful, & real, the smallest details are amazing, such as when the main character smiles for the first time or when the escape of alcohol to forget the hard life he has to bare ends. There is no need to say "I love you", when you show it in so many ways.
This treats the viewer with respect and intelligence. A film to haunt you for a long time.
