Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Joe C — 08 Mar 2016
Decent popcorn film reminiscent of what the ORIGINAL Clash of the Titans film did for my Gen. cheesy script, visuals that look fantastic now, but won't stand the test of time. current fan favorite actors and rising stars.
critically acclaimed older actors (or actors who are still with us..2016 has not been a good year for entertainment!) playing the mentors and villains. empty script, saturated with pointless humor to keep the audience from thinking too deeply.
as a kid, I loved Clash of the Titans, now I see it is completely ridiculous, BUT..........still fun to watch. there is no use for too much scrutiny here. no need to waste time with PC frustration over what mythology is correct or what color/nationality the actors should have been.
..blah blah blah. this movie doesn't promise to reinvent the genre, nor is it worth the ticket price.....but the kids will love it in the same way I loved the original Clash film. simplistic, silly and visually stunning and ridiculous all rolled into one.
..and again, fun to watch.
