Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Jeremy B — 28 Jun 2016

Leave your brain at home! Gods of Egypt is without doubt one of the greatest movies ever made and one of the most worst movies ever made. Lets try and deconstruct this mess, firstly the acting by pretty much everyone sucks ass, I don't know whether it was the fact that they knew they were in deep shit or maybe it was the big fat check just dangling in front of them saying 'only a few more days of this shit until you get to cash me in', it's probably the latter but there were so many moments where I just laughed at how bad the acting was, I cringed so many times when the film tried to veer off into a more emotional tone and then laughed a little more; I get the the feeling it says somewhere in Gerard Butler's contract that he's obligated to wear sandals and Geoffrey Rush? What the hell were you doing or thinking for that matter? You were just surrounded by CGI fire for the whole movie, shame on you!.

Point is the acting sucks. Secondly this movie cost $140 million to make! WHAT THE HELL DID THE MONEY GO ON?? I don't think that there's a single shot in the film that wasn't digitally enhanced, the whole film is just covered in grotesque, awful and abysmal CGI, we've already seen one movie this year which was laden in CGI and Warcraft did it sooooo much better! I don't really wish to go into thirdly's or fourthly's or fithly's etc and I do wish to not talk so negatively about the film anymore because at the heart of this movie there's one to really enjoy, tremendously enjoy actually but only if you shut off your brain before viewing this abomination, do what I did, leave the film critic at home and go in as the moviegoer because if you do you will laugh, you will holler, you'll probably cry at the fact you're watching it but still you'll have a great time.

Gods of Egypt is a 1 Star movie but 5 Star entertainment.
